AMD launches its first AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition

AMD has officially announced the launch of its AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics.  It is the first cards to have the Vega architecture, be high-end and go to professionals in the sector, who need to export videos or 3D graphics or to mine bitcoins . Instead, if you’re a gamer you’ll have to wait for the AMD Radeon RX Vega to arrive later this year.

We knew that this processor manufacturer was working on a new generation of models, more powerful and with which to deal with the Titan Xp of NVIDIA, its main competitor. So we expected that the new products and the new products soon arrived.

The AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition comes with improvements, including 13.1 TFLOPS single-precision power (FP32) and a base frequency of 1,382 MHz for its operation.

As if this were not enough, they are accompanied by 16 GB of HBM2 memory and have a memory bus of 2,048 bits and a bandwidth of 483 GB/s. They also include 4,096 shaders, 256 texture units and 64 8-pin power units. In addition, they are provided with 2 8-pin power connectors.

Features that make us think of them as the successor of the FirePro, the Radeon series and that will be included in the new iMac Pro 2017, the most powerful All In One computer ever designed by Apple.

AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics cards will be available in two different models. The main difference between them is that one uses an air cooling system based on a turbine fan and consumes 300 W while the other has a liquid cooling system that reaches 375 W, being more powerful and offering more ventilation.

The first model is already available for $ 999, while the second version will be available for $ 1,400 during the third quarter of this year (between July and September).

The good news continues with the AMD rendering engine, the AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition is capable of rendering the same process up to 172% faster than NVIDIA’s GTX TITAN Xp.
