AMD Radeon RX Vega: Launch Date confirmed

We have already seen in previous news that the AMD Radeon RX Vega for general consumption has been delayed and will not finally hit the market between late May and early June, bad news as it is a highly anticipated graphic solution.

Fortunately, this delay will not be as prolonged as some sources indicated (it was said that it would not arrive until September), as confirmed by Lisa Su (CEO of AMD), expect the launch of the Radeon RX Vega occurs in July at the latest.

This means that we are likely to see this graphics card Radeon RX Vega between the end of June and mid-July, which would leave us an almost simultaneous launch with the Radeon RX Vega Frontier Edition, a version that we know is aimed at the professional sector.

What can we expect from Radeon RX Vega?

We talked about a top of the range and as such should yield the level of solutions as powerful as the GTX 1080 TI from NVIDIA. At the time AMD itself said it “offers a very interesting performance” compared to that, a positive but ambiguous expression that gives rise to two possible interpretations:

  1. It lacks the same level as the GTX 1080 TI or a little less.
  2. It delivers better performance than a GTX 1080 TI.

At the spec level, AMD Radeon RX Vega for consumption will keep the 4,096 shaders and all key specifications, although it is said that it could come with half of graphics memory (8 GB of HBM2 instead of 16 GB of HBM2) to reduce costs.

Not a bad idea, since 8 GB of HBM2 is more than enough to move any game in maximum qualities and 4K resolution without problems, although it is important to adopt a suitable configuration to maintain the 2.048-bit bus.
