AMD Radeon RX Vega X2: Leaked Features

AMD has decided to look for the best value for money with Radeon RX Vega, a graphics card that will come in two big variants (64 and 56) and will also have a special edition manufactured by ASUS, currently known as AMD Radeon RX Vega X2.

AMD Radeon RX Vega X2

As its name suggests it will be a graphics card with two Vega 10 XT graphics cores that is the full version that has all the computer units activated. This would leave us some really impressive specifications:

  • 4,096 shaders x 2.
  • 256 texture units x 2.
  • 64 x 2 raster drives.
  • Bus of 2,048 bits per GPU.
  • 8 GB of HBM2 for each GPU.

At the level of performance this new graphics card should outnumber a GTX 1080 Ti, although being a solution with double GPU everything will depend on the scaling they achieve and the optimization of each application in particular.

To keep this beast under control ASUS will use a liquid cooling system, although we do not yet have information about the TDP or the additional power connectors it might require.

However, seeing that the monoGPU model requires two 8-pin plugs we can intuit that this dual-GPU model may require three 8-pin power connectors.

It is important to note that ASUS’s goal with that AMD Radeon RX Vega X2 would not be to sell large quantities but would present itself as a very limited special edition that could get even numbered, which means that its price could be quite high.
