AMD Threadripper 1950X Performance Test

Thanks to Source we have the first performance tests of the AMD Threadripper 1950X, a processor that as we know is called to become the most powerful solution of the Sunnyvale firm for consumption.

AMD ThreadRipper 1950X

The comparison they have made is quite complete since they have used equipment based on the X299 platforms (Intel LGA2066 with Core i9 7900X), X399 (AMD LGA4094 with Threadripper 1950X), Z270 (Intel LGA1151 with Core i7 7700K) and X370 (PGA1331 with RYZEN 7 1800X).

you can see the specific configurations of each of the equipment that have been used in the tests. We have also accompanied images that show the performance of each and the complete video for those who want to revive the content of source.

The results generally confirm that the AMD Threadripper 1950X delivers good performance at both the mono and multi-core levels, although in some tests it lags behind the Core i9 7900X so there is no absolute winner.

In any case we must take into account two important things. The first is that the RAM they used with the AMD Threadripper 1950X worked at 6666 MHz, so the performance could have been better with a faster DDR4 kit. The second is that the cooling system mounted on the CPU was also not at the level of a processor of $ 999.

The latter affects the working frequencies of the chip as the XFR technology allows increasing the frequency automatically and dynamically depending on the system temperatures, which ultimately ends up affecting the performance of the system.
