It is not a coincidence that this HP Specter x2 2017 is presented at the same time as the Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 (as of today available in Spain) or the recent Flex 5 from Lenovo. Hybrids, 2 in 1 and convertibles, along with gaming equipment, are becoming the most attractive teams in the PC segment and the few capable of pulling a car for which “green shoots” are expected next semester.

Microsoft opened the way with Surface Pro, but it is clear that it currently has the competition “at home” and its partners offer equal or better equipment. This is the case of the Specter x2 2017. A team that we liked in its presentation and whose analysis highlights that it is “a magnificent sequel” of the original Specter.

HP has kept the CNC machined aluminum chassis and screen size at 12.3 inches, but has significantly improved the IPS multi-touch panel, which now offers a native resolution of 3000 × 2000 pixels with aspect ratio 3: 2 and smaller bevel size.

Its hardware base has been updated and is now much more powerful, with Intel’s “Kaby Lake” processors in models such as the Core i7-7560U and integrated Iris Plus Graphics 650 that can handle up to 4 Gbytes of graphics memory. Its RAM capacity also rises to a minimum of 8 Gbytes, as well as its storage capacity of the solid state drive it mounts.

Also, enhanced is the removable dock to which the equipment is connected via magnetic connection and offering a full-size keyboard, backlight and a sensitive glass trackpad. HP includes a pressure sensitive Windows Ink Certified stylus for content creation, editing, or note taking.

The HP Specter x2 2017 features a premium audio system with two Bang & Olufsen speakers and improved connectivity with two Type-C USB ports, a 5-megapixel camera and a 13 MP camera, as well as an infrared camera with support for Windows Hello. Superb aspect of this equipment with which it continues raising the level of the offer of “2 in 1” premium.
