Intel Core i9 7900X: Processor series with highest frequency

Already have begun to appear the results of the first overclocking tests with the new processors of series “extreme” of Intel and seems that for now the thing paints well, since we have been able to confirm the overclocker Elmor has taken Intel Core i9 7900X until the 5.785 MHz.

As you could imagine to maintain that frequency using all the processor cores (10 and 20 respectively) it has been necessary to resort to liquid nitrogen, although it is important to note that the Intel Core i9 7900X has achieved a higher frequency than Core i7 6950X, a chip that also adds 10 cores and 20 threads.

Thanks to this huge overclock and increase IPC marks the Skylake-X architecture against a Broadwell-E Core i7 7900X has the world records surpassed in Cinebench R11.5 and Cinebench R15. Elmor’s results in these tests were 34.79 and 3181, respectively.

Other world records have also been beaten with the new Intel Core i9 7800X CPUs in the six-core and twelve-wire processor category, suggesting that Intel has done a good job with its new generation of Skylake-X processors.

However, we must bear in mind that we are talking about an extreme overclocking made by professionals using liquid nitrogen, and what is really interesting for the consumer will be overclocking tests with standard refrigeration systems (liquid and air).
