Plextor M8Se SSDs: Specs, Features and Price

Plextor has announced the launch of the Plextor M8Se SSDs – solid state drives that take advantage of the performance of the PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface and the NVMe protocol, which are aimed at competing with the Samsung 960 EVO series, the rival to beat in the consumer market.

The Plextor M8Se SSDs use Toshiba NAND TLC memories made in 15 nanometer processes and a Marvell 88SS1093 controller.

They offer high data throughput, up to 2,450 Mbytes per second in sequential read and 1,000 Mbytes per second in sequential writing. The 4K random read / write performance is 210,000 / 175,000 IOPS.

Plextor M8Se SSDs

The Plextor M8Se SSDs will be marketed in three form factors: M8Se-Y (PCIe card), M8Se-G (M.2-2280 with heatsink) and M8Se-GN (M.2-2280 without laptop heatsink.

The Plextor M8Se SSDs will soon be available on the international channel with storage capacities of 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. Prices range from 93 $ to 555 $ from the top unit.
