Toshiba XG 5 is the new solid state drive from the Japanese manufacturer. A very fast model that enters the prestigious “club of 3 GB / sec”.
We are already seeing in teams that arrive from Computex 2017 as SSD is becoming strong in the consumer market. There is no PC that does not mount directly or optionally offers a solid state drive for the storage section.
Toshiba XG 5 is one of the new and the best. It uses an M.2 -2280 format with PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface with support for the NVMe 1.2 protocol. The heart of these units are the TLC NAND flash memories and a Toshiba own controller.
The unit has a cache-SLC-cache function, in which the unit treats a small portion of the NLC TLC flash as SLC NAND, by storing only 1 bit per cell. The unit offers a sequential transfer rate of up to 3,000 Mbytes per second in read mode and up to 2100 MB / s in Write.
Toshiba XG 5 will be commercialized in the first week of June in storage capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 Tbyte.
