Vivo X9S and Vivo X9S Plus: Double front cameras for lovers of selfies

If there is something that Chinese manufacturers have demonstrated over the years is that they are quite quick to implement and exploit trends that the rest of the market is still slow to adopt. It was the case of the growth of the frontal photographic sensors, embracing the now permanent fashion of the selfies, also happens with the readers of footprints under the screen and it is happening again with the dual frontal sensors.

One of the culprits of the growth of the Chinese market in recent months is undoubtedly Vivo, and that is why we have it here today with a new generation of its terminals X. The Vivo X9S and X9S Plus, evolutions of the previous X9, are already official and bet heavily on self-portraits. From China, with love, double front cameras for all. Let us see what they offer us.

Vivo X9S

The “small” of the two models presented by the Chinese manufacturer bet on an AMOLED screen of 5.5 inches and with a resolution Full HD. That automatically converts it into a screen with 400 pixels per inch of density, a figure quite widespread at the moment in the market and congruent with the rest of the internal equipment that we will now see.

The brain of the Vivo X9S is the Snapdragon 652, an eight-core 1.8GHz chip that is accompanied by an Adreno 510 GPU. The model comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that we cannot expand since Oppo has opted not to incorporate any tray for the microSD in its recent model.

In the camera equipment we find the most powerful features of the Vivo X9S. For the rear, 16 megapixels with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and focus by PDAF phase detection, plus native HDR and ability to record slow motion video. For the front, a 20 megapixel sensor accompanied by another 5 megapixels, a pair with f/2.0 aperture that will serve to play with the selective blur and also offers LED flash front and native HDR.

This Vivo X9S comes with an internal and non-removable battery of 3320 mAh with fast charge and in connectivity we will have Dual SIM LTE, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 and GPS. We will also have an AK4376 high-fidelity audio chip. Not bad for a metallic smartphone that will measure 152.6 x 74.2 x 6.99 millimeters and will weigh 155.3 grams.

The older brother of Vivo X9S grows in some aspects although others are shared. It is not the case of its screen, which this time reaches up to 5.85 inches maintaining resolution and technology. We therefore have an AMOLED Full HD panel with 376 pixels per inch, with the same front design as the Vivo X9S.

The processor progresses slightly, now being in the Snapdragon 653, configuration of eight cores similar but reaching 1.95GHz, a chip a generation more current and also has the Adreno 510. As for memories, we have an X9S decal. 4GB in RAM, 64GB in internal memory and no possibility to mount a microSD.

The camera team also repeats; 16 megapixels rear with LED flash, PDAF focus, f/2.0 aperture, autofocus and slow motion video recording, plus native HDR and super wide mode, and 20 and 5 megapixels on the back, also with f/2.0 aperture, HDR Native and front flash. Both teams are photographic level twins.

The Vivo X9S Plus mounts an internal and non-removable battery of 4015 mAh with fast charge and it enjoys connectivity Dual SIM LTE, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 and GPS. It does not lack the AK4376 audio chip to enhance the multimedia experience, of course.
