Acer – along with HP and Lenovo – is one of the first manufacturers to bet on AMD’s Ryzen Mobile in some of its portable models. If HP does it with the Envy x360 convertible, Acer uses the Swift 3 portable series with two models.
The most interesting is the one that incorporates the processor Ryzen 7 2700U, the most powerful for now of the new mobile platform of AMD. A chip with four cores and eight wires with frequencies of 2.2 to 3.8 GHz in normal and turbo modes, 2 MB of L2 cache and 4 Mbytes of third level cache.
Its strong point comes from the integrated graphics, a Radeon Vega 10 GPU with 640 shaders with a maximum frequency of 1.3 GHz, and also its content consumption, a TDP ranging from 9 to 25 watts.
For the rest, the Swift 3 uses a 15.6-inch IPS screen with native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Mount 8 Gbytes of DDR-4 memory and a 512 Gbyte SSD for mass storage.
Its keyboard is backlit and includes the usual connectivity with Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth; 1 USB Type-C, 2 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 port; HDMI output and a 4-cell Lithium-Ion battery with 3320 mAh. It also has a fingerprint reader and support for Windows Hello.
Availability and price of Swift 3
The Swift 3 with Ryzen Mobile 7 is already included in the Acer portal with model number SF315-41-R6J9. Its official price is 949 euros.
Acer has also listed Switch 3 with the Ryzen 5 2500U processor. The processor is the only difference from the previous one, together with a solid-state drive with half the capacity, 256 GB. Its model number is SF315-41-R8PP, and it has an official price of 749 dollars.
Both pre-install Windows 10 and will be available in several color finishes. No release date is known, but they are important as an alternative to the Intel processors that dominate the laptop market.
