Although its official launch is not scheduled until June 27, AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition have already been listed in some retailers as available for pre-purchase, which means that it is possible to reserve them if we want to be the first to receive them.
AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition is a high performance graphics card that is aimed at the professional market, and therefore has specific optimizations to give the best of itself in demanding applications and not just in games.
As we said at the time, the card will be available in two versions, one with liquid cooling and another with an air dissipation system based on a classic design with turbine fan that expels hot air.
The first has been listed with an approximate price of 1,800 dollars and the second has appeared for 1,200 dollars. It is important to bear in mind that when dealing with pre-purchase it is possible that these prices have been inflated and that in fact both versions end up costing less, but even in the worst case we must recognize that we have been pleasantly surprised.
We say this because AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition competes with NVIDIA’s Tesla P100, but the second is marketed in the United States with prices close to $ 10,000 and in Spain for about 7,000 euros.
The AMD option costs five times less than that of NVIDIA, and yet offers some very good specifications as we will see in the following comparison:
AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition:
- 4,096 shaders.
- 256 texture units.
- 64 raster units.
- Bus of 2,048 bits and 16 GB of HBM2.
- 3,840 shaders.
- 240 texture units.
- 96 raster units.
- Bus of 4,096 bits and 16 GB of HBM2.
We remind you that the Radeon RX Vega (consumer version of the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition) will be officially announced at the end of July and will keep all the keys of the professional variant.
