ASUS ZenFone AR: Specs, Release Date and Price

ASUS has commercialized the ASUS ZenFone AR in the Taiwanese market, the first mobile that can boast support for Google’s Tango and DayDream platforms.


ASUS ZenFone AR has a 5.7-inch multi-touch diagonal display with native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Its SoC engine is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with Adreno 530 GPU, accompanied by variants with 6 and 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal storage capacity UFS 2.0.

Big and powerful terminal although these are not its main features, but its support for the latest virtual and augmented reality technologies from Google. For this, it has an ASUS TRICAM camera system and Sony IMX318 CMOS image sensor.

As you know, Project Tango is an Augmented Reality development developed by the Internet giant’s Advanced Technologies and Projects Group (ATAP). Equipped with 3D sensors allow to create in real time three-dimensional models of the space that surround it. The hardware is supported by software designed to track the full 3D movement of the device, while creating a map of the environment.

Lenovo has already marketed the terminal with this technology, but the ASUS ZenFone AR also adds support for DayDream, Google’s virtual reality platform for which we will need in addition to the smartphone and corresponding software (Android 7.0 or higher), a virtual reality kit as the own offered by Google, type VR Gear Samsung.

The official price of ASUS ZenFone AR in Taiwan is USD 24,900 (about USD 820). High price range to get a terminal for today only. We do not know price and international availability.
