New information ensures that Sony intends to announce three new terminals in this year’s IFA, the Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact and X1, all aimed at the high-end market although its release date has not been specified.
Fortunately, what we do have is a complete list that includes the key specifications of the three terminals, which allows us to clarify which specific gaps Sony wants to cover with these terminals.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 is presented as a true top of the range, as it will feature a 5.2-inch screen with 1080p Full HD resolution, 835 Snapdragon SoC, 4GB of RAM and a 3000 mAh battery.
For its part, the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is a reduced version of the previous one, which means a reduction of the screen size and the resolution until the 4.6 inches and 720p. SoC and RAM are maintained (Snapdragon 835 and 4GB) but the battery capacity drops to 2,800 mAh.
Finally, the Sony Xperia X1 is a high end model that will come equipped with a SoC Snapdragon 660. Its screen will be 5 inches, will have 1080p Full HD resolution and 4GB of RAM. The battery will also be maintained at 2,800 mAh.
As we see the new Sony Xperia XZ1 is a minor evolution compared to the Xperia XZ, since the second mount a Snapdragon 820, although the source of the news also stressed that Sony could take advantage to introduce a new camera technology for smartphones. This was all about new three models: Sony Xpera XZ1, Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, and Sony Xperia X1.
