Google presents Android Oreo 8.0, everything you need to know

In the end there have been no surprises, Google has officially announced that the next version of its known mobile operating system will be called Android Oreo 8.0.

Android Oreo 8.0

All the pools pointed to that name as definitive, but after seeing what happened with Android N that against all odds ended up being called Nougat instead of Nutella and we were expecting anything.

As we anticipate at the time the first devices to receive Android Oreo 8.0 will be the Nexus 5X smartphones, Nexus 6P, Pixel, Pixel XL and the Nexus Player.

The leading smartphone manufacturers based on Google’s mobile platform; Including Samsung, LG, Huawei, Motorola, Lenovo, HTC and Sony, are working on versions of Android Oreo 8.0 for its top-of-the-range titles, although last year’s flagships will also upgrade to that operating system.

More performance and more possibilities

Google has confirmed that Android Oreo will bring improvements in performance, stability and efficiency, but will also feature very interesting functional developments and highlighted some of the most striking:

  • Notification Dots: will allow us to see the notifications we have in each application and decide what we want to do.
  • Picture in Picture: With this function we can have a video call open and leave it in the background while using another application.
  • Autocomplete: is an old acquaintance who needs no introduction. The novelty is that it now extends to third-party applications.
  • New emojis: Android Oreo 8.0 includes 60 new emojis that in addition have been redesigned.

To all this we must add other improvements in security, thanks to Google Play Protect, the use of smartphone with output devices thanks to multi-screen and in the management of battery consumption to improve autonomy.
