The XDA-Developers forum published information according to which the next year Chromebooks should be launched on the SoC Snapdragon 845 basis. Records with mention of such devices were noticed in the latest changes to the source code of the Chromium engine.
Alas, so far there is no data on future models of Chromebooks with SoC Snapdragon 845, and it is clear that they will (if they do) not before the third quarter of next year. The first time of delivery of Snapdragon 845, which has not yet entered the market, will be very limited. Approximately at the same time, the first PCs with Windows 10 and Snapdragon 845, created under the initiative Always Connected PC, are expected.
The arrival of Snapdragon 845 in the segment of the chrome book can significantly improve the performance of these devices and at the same time provide them with an enviable autonomy. That is, given that the OS Chrome OS is much easier and more economical in terms of power consumption compared to Windows, in this case, you can expect to have an even longer battery life.
It remains to add that now in the chrome-book is used either single-chip systems of Intel, Exynos, MediaTek or RockChip. Apparently, Qualcomm has changed its attitude to OS Chrome OS and is now ready to cooperate with Google.
The new single-chip Snapdragon 845 system, which stands out as a built-in modem supporting data rates up to 1.2 Gb / s, was introduced earlier this month.
