Motorola continues to expand catalog and after the Moto C for the range of entry and waiting for the Moto Z2 high-end, we get the Moto G5S.
This is a variant of the Moto G5 offered in its two variants, standard and plus. The main novelty of Moto G5S would be the use of a totally metallic chassis raising the level of this mid-range.
They would also increase size slightly. The standard model at 5.2 inches and Moto G5S Plus model at 5.5 inches. In both cases they would maintain Full HD native resolution.
No information has been provided on their hardware engine, although given that Qualcomm has upgraded its chipsets for the mid-range since CES’s presentation of the original G5s, Motorola / Lenovo is likely to bet on them.
Especially interesting would be the new Snapdragon 630, an eight-core CPU SoC based on the ARM Cortex A53 and the Adreno 508 graphics, which improves process and graphics performance against the Snapdragon 625 (used in the G5 Plus) by 20/30 %.
Also interesting are the improvements in the connectivity section by incorporating the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem that supports download speed of up to 600 Mbps and the performance enhancement provided by the new 2 × 2 MU-MIMO 802.11 ac Wi-Fi chip.
Support for Bluetooth 5, the new version of the Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) industrial specification, and the internal Quick Charge 4 technology, which promises to charge 50% of the battery in 15 minutes, would be another enhancement for the “plus” model of these Moto G5S.
Moto G5S comes with double camera sensor and an update to Android 7.1.1. It could be other novelties for this series with which Motorola would strengthen the mid-range market.
