Thanks to numerous leaks, the technical characteristics of Nokia 8 became well-known long before the presentation. As expected, HMD Global installed the top-level electronic “top-level stuffing” inside the smartphone.
Despite the fact that the Nokia brand returned to the market at the beginning of the year, without the flagship Nokia 8, many consider the “revival of the legendary brand” to be inadequate. In general, the wait is not long – the presentation of the novelty should take place on August 16.
So what’s inside it?
In mid-July, authoritative insider Roland Quandt said that Nokia 8 will receive the most powerful available mobile processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 4 GB of RAM and a built-in storage capacity of 64 GB.
A little later, the basic characteristics of Nokia 8 were confirmed by another leak – in the popular benchmark GeekBench: also the 845th Snapdragon and also 4 GB of RAM. It is rumored that the release of an “advanced” version with 6 GB of RAM is also planned.
And there was another interesting detail: the device from HMD Global runs under the most recent Android 8.0.0 (the supposed name is Oreo). Thus, the novelty can become the first smartphone that will get a new “green robot” out of the box.
It is also worth noting that the smartphone scored 1,789 points in the single-core mode and 6494 in the multi-core. Not the most outstanding result for Snapdragon 835, but you can make a discount to the fact that in GeekBench, only the prototype of the device was tested.
The main camera of Nokia 8 has also repeatedly lit up in leaks, but its exact characteristics are not known at the moment. It is clear only that it will be double, and that it will be equipped with optics from Zeiz (that is, the cooperation of the two brands will be continued).
Again, according to rumors, the smartphone’s camera will include a pair of sensors with a resolution of 12 MP, optical image stabilization, phase-locked auto-focus and support for software-hardware zoom. Also in the photo above it is worth noting the presence of a powerful two-tone LED flash.
These rumors can confirm another leak of the characteristics of Nokia 8, this time in another popular benchmark – GFX Bench. There is one nuance: the model number of the “eight” is TA-1004. However, the program for some reason defines a smartphone as Nokia 9.
What’s worth noting in the screenshot above:
- The operating system Android 7.1.1 Nougat, not 8.0.0. However, this can be attributed to the fact that a test prototype was added to the database of the benchmark.
- The screen with a fairly rare diagonal 5.3 inches, resolution QHD 1440 × 2560 pixels and support for 5 touches.
- Confirm key parameters of the main camera, as mentioned above.
- 12-megapixel front for shooting “selfie” and the ability to record video in 4K UltraHD resolution.
- A fairly rich set of sensors: an accelerometer, a barometer, a compass, a gyro, an illumination level, a distance and a pedometer.
Thus, we can conclude that the Nokia 8 is quite a classic smartphone that “decided” to “grow up” a little, but it did not become a smartpad. The most important thing is that it is not a “shovel” or a “brick”.
In leaks of varying degrees of reliability, a non-removable battery of quite a decent capacity – 4000 mAh also appeared, which promises very good autonomy for the flagship. Even the Chinese do not put such on their top models yet.
