HTC U 11 is the new top-of-the-range smartphone that the Taiwanese firm just introduced in Taiwan, celebrating in passing the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the company. The HTC guys have not forgotten to make good phones although the drop in sales and some failed model, may make you think otherwise.
HTC U 11 is the successor to the HTC 10 as the flagship of the company and also, is part of the new series “U” in an aesthetic that we have seen in the recent HTC U Ultra. First impressions point to an improvement in the performance of this and its design, for example, “flattening” the protuberances of camera or USB connector Type-C and in other details.
The terminal is based on an IP67 certified aluminum and glass chassis for dust and water resistance, which HTC defines as “Liquid Design”. Very attractive, although there are no ugly phones in the high range.
Another notable component in the design is what HTC calls Edge Sense, pressure sensors on the sides of the terminal that can be used as shortcuts to open applications, take a picture or other actions. You can adjust the pressure level, assign the action that the user wants and work with gloves or with the wet terminal.
Specifications of HTC U 11
As expected, HTC U11 improves what is seen on the HTC U Ultra for quite a while and adds to a screen of good size and resolution, the most powerful mobile chipset that can be included in a smartphone:
- Display: 5.5 inches
- Native resolution: QHD – 2560 x 1440 pixels
- Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
- Memory: 4 / 6GB RAM
- Internal storage: 64/128 GB (expandable with microSD cards)
- Cameras: Front – Rear of 12 MP / 16 MP
- Battery: 3,000 mAh. Qualcomm Fast Freight
- Various: USB TYpe-C, IP67, 4 speakers, microSD.
- OS: Android 7.1
Note that you do not have a 3.5 mm audio jack. A bad fashion that Apple started, we already saw in the model “Ultra” and seems to be extended in the segment.
Availability & Pricing of HTC U11
The new HTC U 11 will be marketed in the month of June with a free base price of 649 dollars. It will be offered in several color finishes (blue, black, red, silver) with Android 7.1.1 pre-installed and the usual layer of user interface of the Taiwanese firm. Good terminal, but enough against the rest of top of the range and to recover market?
