The San Diego giant has unintentionally confirmed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, a next-generation SoC that will hit next year and should be used by major mobile device manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, Sony and Xiaomi, among others.
We had previously seen some filtered information about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, but this time the source is official because it has its origin in a document published by Qualcomm following legal proceedings that face it with Apple.
In the image that accompanies we can see a complete list of the main chips of Qualcomm and among them is the “SDM845”, that is to say the Snapdragon 845.
At the level of specifications said, SoC will have an eight-core processor divided into two blocks of four cores each. The first block will use the Cortex-A75 architecture, but will have specific enhancements to provide greater performance.
The second block of cores will use the Cortex-A53 architecture, which prioritizes consumption over performance and is therefore designed to offer greater autonomy by extending battery life.
Its GPU will be a powerful Adreno 630 and is expected to mount a new generation 4G modem capable of reaching maximum download speeds of 1.2 Gbps. Otherwise it should be manufactured in an improved 10 nm process.
Now that we know a little more in depth to this new silicon we must emphasize that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 could become one of the great pillars inside the platform Windows 10 ARM, that is to say the emulated version in processors ARM that Microsoft intends to use so that it is possible to develop low-cost portable computers with such operating system.
